One of the reasons it’s important to know that the US has done things like this before (for almost any value of this, not just the current border situation) is because people have fought things like this before. Knowing what tactics they used tells us what worked and what didn’t.

And some of those policies stopped because of activism. It’s possible to win.

All I’m seeing in most “This is America” posts is incitement of despair and hopelessness. Don’t encourage people to give up.

Yes, this! I’ve been trying to be careful myself to avoid reblogging posts with too much despairing commentary, but I see an unfortunate amount of them.

I’ve seen some commentary positing that at least some of those posts are psyops specifically designed to impose a sense of inevitability and helplessness, but whether they are or not (although I’m inclined to believe that at least some are), that is certainly the effect they have.

That’s not to mention the 33,126 complaints made against multiple DHS agencies since 2010; 75% of those were made against ICE and Border Patrol. The Inspector General only investigated 247.

These institutions are hurting people, and they need to disappear.

Keep an eye out for this pride flag! If you encounter someone with this pride flag as their icon, do yourself a favor and block/report them. This is the MAP pride flag. For those who don’t know, MAP stands for Minor Attracted Person, more commonly known as a pedophile. The MAP community is filled with adults who openly admit to having sexual feelings towards children, and post about how they fantasize about underaged children. It’s sick and disgusting, and these depraved individuals try and use tumblr as a platform to normalize their perversions. They appropriate the experiences of the LGBT community by feigning systematic oppression, and comparing the rightful societal condemnation of pedophiles to the violent persecution of the LGBT community, which isn’t even remotely comparable. It’s honestly reprehensible that they’d take advantage of pride by making a flag like this. It’s incrediblly dangerous because unifying symbols such as this create a platform for pedophiles to prey on children, and spread pedophilia-enabling rhetoric. Please spread this around if you can, and if you are a minor, don’t bother interacting with these scumbags. It’s not worth putting yourself in danger to call these people out or try to get them to see the error of their ways. Stay safe everyone!

It looks like the “Creator” of the flag is @/dont-mistake-our-geography, she is an avid MAP supporter and possible MAP herself. She has her main blog in her title under “stennastims” which she says she’ll follow from! So, if you get followed from either! Block them!

Funny thing is: I talk to a few anti-contact MAPs on Twitter and ALL of them are strongly against any kind of normalization of their mental illness. They are well aware of the fact that they feel this way and if they act on these feelings, they will hurt kids. This is what these anti-contact MAPs are advocating for:

An overhaul of mental healthcare to better treat their condition (current treatments are akin to torture and have been proven not to work)

The right to seek said treatment without being outed and risking their lives and/or freedom.

To be able to form support groups with other anti-contact MAPs on Twitter in order to both support each other and keep each other in check.

An understanding that pedophilia, in itself, isn’t illegal and not all pedophiles/MAPs are doomed to become child molesters (which they believe is rightfully and absolutely illegal and harmful to children).

They do not want the act of pedophilia enabled, they do not want the act of pedophilia legalized. These guys do all they can to protect children from themselves and others like them. They want to educate people on the signs of actual child molestation so it can be recognized immediately and the child is able to get the therapy that they need.

I would highly suggest supporting these anti-contact MAPs. I, as a CSA survivor, am a strong advocate for proper treatment for these individuals and I support their fight to be able to seek treatment without risking their lives and their freedom. I support them forming support groups on social media so they can support one another.

The anti-contact MAPs are working to save children and protect them. Please support them in their fight to do so.
